What is The Vine Legacy affinity group?
The Vine Legacy is an affinity group chartered under the Tennessee State University National Alumni Association (TSUNAA) on June 21, 2014 at the National Alumni Convention held in St. Louis, MO., The Vine Legacy was chartered by 18 women who are all members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. This group of diverse and dedicated women seek to serve our beloved Alma Mater by giving of our time, talent and resources.
What is the difference between an Affinity Group and Local Chapter?
An Affinity Group of the TSUNAA is a virtual chapter and is composed of individuals who share a common interest. Local Chapters consist of individuals who reside in a geographically defined area, usually a city or region.
What is the common interest or affinity of The Vine Legacy?
The common interest or affinity among TVL is TSU alumnae who are members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
How is TVL different from other TSUNAA Chapters and Affinity Groups?
Each chapter or affinity of the TSUNAA is charged with carrying out the mission of continuing the legacy of Tennessee State University by increasing enrollment, alumni involvement, and financial contributions while being a resource for current and future students. TVL will achieve this mission by delivering programs and activities in the four areas of Legacy Giving, Legacy Family, Legacy Outreach and Legacy Connections.
Are there dues or other requirements?
Yes, one must be a financial member of the TSUNAA. Members must also pay annual TVL dues as established by our Constitution and By-Laws. TVL dues are currently $25, of which $10 will be sent to the TSU Foundation on behalf of the individual member to promote the practice of Alumni Giving. If you are not a financial member of the TSUNAA, you will also be required to pay those dues.
Can I pay my TSUNAA dues and TVL dues at the same time?
Yes. If you are not financially active with the TSUNAA, you may pay for both at the time of your TVL registration.
If I am a member of another chapter, do I have to pay TVL dues?
Yes. You are required to pay dues to each chapter or affinity group that you join.
How do I join The Vine Legacy?
The preferred method to join is via the website. Click here to complete the online membership form . If you are unable to complete the online application, you may email members@thevinelegacy.org and request a paper application.
When is deadline for membership dues?
Dues can be paid at anytime during the year. In election years for National offices, dues received after May 15th will be applied to the following fiscal year.
